Fr. Lorenzo Scupoli

"We shall see clearly that is is greater to despise the world than to have it at one's command; that it is infinitely preferable to submit to the humblest of men for God's sake, than to command kings and princes; that a humble knowledge of ourselves surpasses the deepest sciences; in short, that greater praise is due to him who curbs his passions on the most trivial occasions, than to him to conquers the strongest cities and defeats entire armies. "

    Food For Families

    KofC Jars with Yellow Lids

The Washingtonville Knights of Columbus have launced their Food for Families program, which has been implemented to support Country Kids 4U Food Pantry. With the cooperation of local businesses, clear glass jars with yellow lids have been placed in their stores. All funds collected will go directly to Country Kids to help with the purchase of food.

Knights program chairman, Bill Preston, met with the pantry's Directors in late January. Given an explanation of how the program works and a tour of the building, Bill knew the Knights had to help. "John, Peter and Valerie have put together a great organization. It's a safety net for so many people in our community who have been impacted by events beyond their control. We feel privledged to be able to help."

Knights Sean Cunnane, Frank Roughneen, Sal Pineda, Danny Munoz, Joe Prunty, Kevin Strommer and Viz Cordero help Bill and all the Country Kids volunteers load and unload vans full of food on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month at the pantry.

We'd like to thank the following buisnesses for their willingness to help. If you'd like a 'Jar with a Yellow Lid' placed in your store, please call Bill Preston at 845-667-4038.
